Pt/CeMnOx/Diatomite: A Highly Active Catalyst for the Oxidative Removal of Toluene and Ethyl Acetate

Pt nanoparticles and a CeMnOx composite were loaded on the surface of natural diatomite material to generate Pt/CeMnOx/diatomite using redox precipitation impregnation methods. The physicochemical properties catalysts characterized by means various techniques. catalytic resistance H2O SO2 measured for oxidation typical volatile organic compounds (i.e., toluene ethyl acetate). Among all as-prepared samples, exhibited highest activity: temperatures (T90%) at or acetate conversion 90% 230 210 °C space velocity (SV) 20,000 mL g−1 h−1, respectively, turnover frequency (TOFPt) 220 was 1.04 μmol/(gcat s) 1.56 oxidation. In particular, this sample showed superior activity low temperatures, with its T50% being 185 SV = h−1. addition, possessed good sulfur dioxide during process. presence SO2, some molecules adsorbed diatomite, which protected active sites from poisoned certain extent. pathways over Pt/CeMnOx as follows: C–C C–O bonds in are first broken form CH3CH2O* CH3CO* species is oxidized benzaldehyde benzoic acid, these intermediates then converted CO2 H2O. This work can provide strategy develop efficient high activity, durability, cost, easy availability under actual working conditions.
